The New York Dialect  course if for students unable to take in person classes due to conflicts from work, school, or other activities. This class will help students build foundational skills for utilizing a New York Accent. The class will have two parts: Study at Home and Zoom Practice Sessions. Students will first receive a study at home packet which includes resources such as Phonetic Charts, Apps, Articles and Videos. Then, students will receive material to utilize for zoom practice session, lead by a professional actress who will give feedback and instruction. By the end of class, students will be ready to audition for shows like Newsies, Annie, 42nd Street, Thoroughly Modern Millie and more! Participation in Showcase on Thursday, November 4th at Mount Pisgah Christian School optional.

Rachel Sleek-Banuelos

Rachel began her creative aspirations young with her passion for ballet. She went on to dance in the pre-professional division at the Atlanta Ballet. After high school she left for Cincinnati, OH to attend CCM (College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati) for Dramatic Performance. She graduated with her BFA and performed in an array of stage shows at the University, with the Cincinnati Outdoor Shakespeare Festival, and with the Know Theatre. She moved her focus to on-camera acting when she moved to Los Angeles, CA. Within her time out west she’s worked on several films, commercials, and in voice-over projects. Her commitment to the craft, knowledge of skills, and faith in God has lead her to success in the unpredictable world of entertainment.
